Traverse Symphony Orchestra summer camps offer an opportunity for string musicians to play their instrument year-round and are open to players of all ages and skillsets.
Civic Strings Live at the Improv!
Civic Strings Advanced Summer Camp
Have fun learning to improvise while playing jazz, pop AND classical music this summer! Starting with blues scales and simple rhythms, you can become comfortable improvising almost any tune in a variety of styles from funk to blues to bossa nova. What?! It’s even possible to improvise to the Pachelbel Canon? Who knew???
Camp fee includes Jazz Philharmonic Second Set book and CD.
Open to violin, viola, cello and bass players.
July 15 – 19, 1 pm to 3:30 pm, Trinity Lutheran Church, 1003 S Maple St, Traverse City, MI

Civic Strings Intermediate Summer Camp
Everyone knows it’s really fun to play popular music, so now is your chance to do just that! Our morning summer camp will include familiar music from all four genres. Students will also learn the basics of jazz improvising. Campers will share in a performance at 11 am on Friday, July 19. Open to violin, viola, cello and bass players.
