Family Concerts
Let the entire family get up close and personal with symphonic music, the instruments
and the musicians themselves! The Traverse Symphony Orchestra invites families of all sizes and ages to come enjoy free afternoons of fun, entertainment, and education. Each concert focuses on a specific piece of popular music or section of the orchestra. Kids have the chance to hear music, touch and feel the instruments, ask questions, and much more. The 2012 family concert schedule is as follows:
Compose Yourself!

Created by Jim Stephenson, this interactive symphonic group made up of 15 different instruments invites aspiring musicians of all ages to compose their very own piece of music—no experience necessary! Before the concert, try out string, woodwind, brass and percussion instruments for yourself at the hands-on instrument petting zoo, which begins at 2:30.
Family Music Fair

Attention, young music lovers! Play a clarinet, conduct a string trio and much more at the Symphony's free Family Music Fair. Designed for children ages 3-11, fairgoers will rotate through a series of fun music-related activity stations that include:
• Try out a wide array of instruments at the instrument petting zoo
• Make your own instrument station
• Take part in various fun musical games
• Create original works of art
• Face painting
• And much more!
